Vehicle number plates must be attached to a vehicle within one day after the plate is received. When the vehicle is on level ground, the number plate must be in an upright position parallel to the vehicle’s axles and not more than 1.3 m above ground level. The characters on the number plate must be visible from 20 m away at any point within an arc of 45 degrees from the surface of the number plate, above or to either side of the vehicle. The number plate cover must be clear, clean, untinted and fl at over its entire surface. It must not have any refl ective characteristics preventing the successful operation of a speed camera or cause the number plate to be illegible from any position from which it is required to be visible.
