THE ROAD AHEAD was launched in January 1940 and is the Club's longest, continuously-produced magazine. At that time the RACQ's membership was just 17,000 and war-related issues such as petrol rationing and the potential for air raids in Queensland were hot topics. The RACQ now has more than 1.2 million members and The Road Ahead is delivered to the mailboxes of more than 886,000 homes and 170,000 email inboxes, six times a year. According to Jim Mathers, RACQ Executive Manager Publishing, as RACQ's primary communication vehicle for the past 75 years, The Road Ahead has chronicled not only the life of the Club, but also motoring advancements, road safety issues, and social change in Queensland. "From celebrating the RACQ patrols and members who worked tirelessly to transport injured World War II service personnel through to the RACQ Helicopter Rescue Network We're about to turn 75!
