ROADAHEAD.COM.AU 16 THE ROAD AHEAD DEC 2014/JAN 2015 SOUTHERN COAST 'GOLD' ON LINE The spotlight is being thrown on the Southern Gold Coast with a new, interactive website highlighting the many attractions in the area. Connecting Southern Gold Coast CEO Peter Doggett said the website aimed to establish a solid, positive image of the region as a place where lifestyle attracted and sustained business, creative arts and events. In addition to providing information for potential visitors, the site lists details about attractions, things to see and do, and accommodation options. Mr Doggett said although the area was famed for its iconic beaches, spectacular imagery of the Southern Gold Coast's hinterland had also been included to further attract visitors and locals. southerngoldcoast.com.au CELEBRATING WINTON'S WAR HEROES The Winton District Historical Society and Museum (WDHSAM) will commemorate the Anzac Centenary with an exhibition paying tribute to more than 500 locals who enlisted in World War 1. The names of those who served are listed on Winton's Honour Board, but the WDHSAM wants to make them 'more than a name' by uncovering their stories through letters, diaries and photographs from the Great War. The stories will form the basis of the exhibition, More Than A Name, which will be displayed at Winton's Waltzing Matilda Centre from April 2015. Anyone who had a relative from the Winton district who was involved in World War 1 is encouraged to contact the museum at matildacentre. com.au/research-family-history.
