This was just one segment of a complete road safety program which included 32 presenters and eight road safety subjects of 70 mins each, coordinated by the Road Accident Awareness Group (RAAG) and sponsored by Xstrata Coal. Young drivers trained R Three cars and three driving coaches made the journey from Brisbane and taught 140 students across fi ve schools the basics of safe driving. They covered 2970 km each in the process. The four-hour sessions were a combination of theory and practice, with the learner and provisional drivers receiving expert instruction in the specially equipped RACQ Driver Education cars in the school grounds, or on closed roads thanks to the support of local police. The program was well received by students and the wider community, with RAAG hoping to organise a similar program in the future. ACQ Insurance (RACQI) was named Best Regional Insurer 2008 at the Australian Banking and Finance Insurance Awards in October. The awards are highly regarded in the industry and are judged by a panel of leading insurance industry experts. According to RACQI chief executive, Bradley Heath, the award is testament to the hard work and dedication of RACQI Insurance efforts yield award R staff and evidence of a continuous improvement culture. “These awards acknowledge the commitment of our staff in understanding our customers’ needs and providing friendly, reliable service,” Mr Heath said. “While we don’t actively seek out awards, we’re very pleased to be recognised by our peers in these highly regarded industry awards.” Members’ annual report options F rom April 2009, the RACQ’s full annual report will be made available to members via the Club’s website, racq.com.
