The Road Ahead : February March 2009
LEFT: Lake Tinaroo, Atherton Tableland. Each 150 Must-Do listing includes a variety of photographs and a description of the experience, as well as links to regional tourism bodies and travel operators that can provide you with more information. Also worth a look is the 151 section, where members of the public have added their own ‘must-do’ experience that didn’t make the 150 list. There are more than 60 recommended ‘must-do’s’ in this section. How to get there The best trips are as much about the journey as the destination, and the 150 Must-Do’s website can point you in the right direction. Alongside each experience are the signpost icons ‘get there by road’, ‘get there by train’ and ‘accommodation’. Clicking on ‘Get there by road’ will take you to the RACQ Trip Planner, which will help you plan your drive from your front door right through to your chosen destination, including any chosen detours along the way. The Trip Planner will also provide information about other attractions along the route. If you opt to ‘Get there by train’, you’ll be taken to the website of 150 Must-Do’s Gold Partner Traveltrain Holidays. Traveltrain Holidays offers a scenic way to visit many of the 150 Must-Do’s and takes passengers on a journey that is an experience in itself. Four Traveltrain experiences are ‘must do’s’ in their own right, with The Sunlander, Spirit of the Outback, Kuranda Scenic Rail and Gulflander all making the 150 list.r Clicking on ‘Accommodation’ will take you direct to surrounding properties on the Roamfree website. Roamfree, a 150 Must-Do’s sponsor, offers online deals on a range of accommodation types within Australia and abroad. abroad Star ratings and photographs of each property will make your decision easier and once you’ve chosen a suitable place to stay, you can book and pay online.
