Play ball when the second, annual Brisbane International tennis competition is held from January 3 to 10. The blockbuster event, held at the state-of-the-art Queensland Tennis Centre, in Tennyson, marks the beginning of the Australian Open Series. More than 10,000 Wilson tennis balls have been ordered for the tournament. From December 27 to January 1, verdant farmland in the Sunshine Coast hinterland becomes a mini-township of cultural diversity and harmony. There will be concerts, dances, workshops, forums, street theatre, writers' panels, a film festival, comedy sessions, acoustic jams, social dialogue and debate, an entire children's festival, art and craft workshops, late night cabarets and special events including a spectacular fire show.
