With a coral reef 150 m offshore, sandy beaches and 1000 ha of national park accessible through the resort's 'back gate', visitors will find it easy to get back to nature here. The Kids' Club is available for parents who need a break, with staff on hand to entertain with supervised activities including treasure hunts, arts and crafts, face painting and bird feeding. Children from four to 14 years of age can enjoy the club free of charge. Be aware, however, that the club's operation depends on a minimum number of children being signed up each day. Grown-up guests consistently name the Club Spa as one of the resort's best features. Try an indulgent treatment. The menu includes massages, wraps, facials, manicures and pedicures, and there's a luxury hydrotherapy bath included in some treatments. Day trips to the various reefs are a must when visiting this beautiful area and Cruise Whitsundays offers plenty of options. On board the Seaflight, Cruise Whitsunday's premier day- cruise vessel, staff are fun and friendly and the company's pontoon at Knuckle Reef has good facilities. The pontoon has an underwater viewing chamber, semi- submersible boat, glass-bottom boat and a waterslide. If you've never tried scuba diving before, now is the time, with Knuckle Reef's coral some of the most pristine in Queensland. Back on Long Island, the resort's new owner Ocean Hotels is refreshing the rooms, which include the beachfront-type previously mentioned, a cheaper garden room option and the budget backpacker lodge. Bathroom revamps, which were not done in all the beachfront rooms at the time of writing, are particularly needed and will make a significant difference to the standard of accommodation. But, as long as the sun is shining, little time will be spent indoors during your stay. Commandeer a sun lounge at dusk with a cocktail in hand and watch the sun set. Long Island Resort has that feeling of simple, summer, seaside holidays, with unpretentious surroundings and smiling service.
