THE 2011 C-CLASS SEDAN AND ESTATE (WAGON) FEATURE MORE THAN 2000 NEW COMPONENTS. Mercedes-Benz' new C-Class boasts a host of exterior and in nterior styling changes as well as significant safety, mechanical and engine updates. On the styling front, pencil in new headlights, new front bumper, a lightweight aluminum bonnet along with aluminum front quarter panels and door modules, and redesigned grille. The C 200 is powered by a 1.8-litre turbocharged and direct-injected four-cylinder petrol engine producing 135 kW and 270 Nm of torque (fuel consumption 7.2 litres/100 km), while the mid-range C 200 is driven by a meatier version of the same engine (150 kW, MERCEDES UPGRADES C-CLASS 310 Nm) but offering the same consum t t ptiion fi fi figure. It's powered by a 77 kW 1.6-litre TDI engine that achieves a combined cycle fuel consumption figure of just 3.8 litres/100 km, giving a theoretical range of more than 1400 km to a tank. Fuel economy gains have been achieved by incorporating automatic stop-start, aerodynamic improvements, revised gear ratios, low rolling resistance tyres and a regenerative braking system that recovers energy during braking. BlueMotion models have a unique sports styling kit that comprises sports bumpers, side skirts and an enlarged rear roof spoiler. They also get lowered sports suspension and unique 15" alloy wheels. There are no factory options and they are available as a five-door hatch with manual transmission only. The 2011 upgrade includes a new frontal treatment with revised headlights, grille and additional chrome trim. Inside new 'black peak' elements have been added to the dash and door trims, and window buttons and light switches are framed in chrome. Audi claims a 0-100 km/h time of 6.9 seconds. An electronic stability control program with electronic limited slip differential helps direct power to the ground. Fuel consumption is 5.9 litres/100 km. A muscular S line body kit comprises lower and deeper front and rear bumpers, roof spoiler and a rear diffuser. The safety package includes six airbags. Standard features include xenon-plus headlights, LED tail lights, LED interior lighting package, rear parking sensors, bluetooth connectivity and light and rain sensors. Price is $42,500^.
