Event organisers have created a new 'goggles only' category to encourage everyone with a love of swimming to take part. Competitors can choose from a range of courses, from a 300 m kids dash through to 1 km and 2 km+ races. It's an opportunity to raise money to support a vital service to Australia's outback community. Funds raised from the iconic event will go to Angel Flight, which flies country people suffering bad health to and from hospital for treatment, free of charge. The Brisbane Greeters Program is a new initiative that offers free, guided short walking tours of the river city's centre and surrounds.
