The Expo will feature more than 100 gardening- related stalls and displays and a guest appearance by Gerry Colby-Williams, of Gardening Australia. The Expo is open 9 am to 4.30 pm Saturday and 9 am to 3 pm Sunday. Held over the May Day long weekend, May 4 to 7, the festival includes outback attractions and novelty events, providing an entertaining weekend for the whole family. www.fossilfestival.com.au FUN FOR THE CAUSE MOTHER'S DAY CLASSIC The Mother's Day Classic is a fun run held each year to celebrate and support women with breast cancer, as well as raise money for breast cancer research. Women, men and children of all ages can get involved through walking, running, volunteering, cheering and, of course, donating. Since its inception in 1998, more than half a million people have walked and run to raise in excess of $10 million for breast cancer research. This year the event is hoping to top the record $3 million raised last year. Events are held in all capital cities and most major regional centres on Sunday, May 13. WHAT'S ON ON A ROLL GOOMERI PUMPKIN FESTIVAL Fill your lungs with country air on Sunday, May 27, at the Goomeri Pumpkin Festival. A celebration of everything pumpkin, the festival is a great day out with free entry for the entire family. Activities include live entertainment, a street parade, pumpkin competitions, a children's animal nursery, market stalls and a variety of unique pumpkin foods. The highlight of the festival is the popular Great Australian Pumpkin Roll, in which contestants take aim at the top of Policeman's Hill, with the hope that their chosen pumpkin will travel the furthest down the slope. Other events include pumpkin bowls, pumpkin shot put and a pumpkin pageant. Members of the public are encouraged to participate in all events.
