MUSIC AND MUCH MORE CAIRNS UKELELE FESTIVAL The Cairns Ukulele Festival engulfs the North Queensland town with a celebration of this unique and versatile instrument. Held in the first week of July, the festival comprises of a range of events such as art exhibitions, sightseeing tours, workshops and, of course, performances by artists from around the world. www.cairnsukulelefestival.net CHEVVIES ON SHOW CORVETTE CLASSIC Revheads rejoice, the 14th Annual Corvette Classic show and shine is back again this year. Sunday, July 8, will see approximately 100 Chevrolet Corvettes from around Australia converge on Pelican Park on the esplanade at Clontarf. This event is one of the largest displays of the iconic muscle car in Australia, with models ranging from the classic designs of the 1950s to the current ZR1 supercar. Hosted by the Corvettes Down Under Car Club, the event runs from 9am to 3pm with trade stalls on site and a 'roving reporter' to keep the public entertained with information and interviews throughout the day. WHAT'S ON MOUNTING A CHALLENGE More than 80 competitors will attempt to conquer the 4.5 km track to the top of Mount Cooroora and back as part of the Pomona King of the Mountain Festival on July 22.
