NEW AGE TRAVEL DISCOVER AUSTRALIA THROUGH YOUR FRIENDS Tourism Australia has created the Discover Australia Through Your Friends app in response to research that shows more travellers are using social media as a source of information when planning their holidays. A survey of more than 1000 Facebook users nationwide revealed up to 73 percent checked the social media networks of their friends while they were on holiday. The Discover Australia Through Your Friends App merges Google Maps and Facebook technology to provide users with a location-specific snapshot of where all their Facebook friends have previously 'checked in', photos they may have 'tagged' and any comments they may have posted about their travel experiences. facebook.com/seeaustralia A RACE WITH PLENTY OF BITE Champion cyclists and mountain bikers from Australia and overseas will converge on North Queensland to test their skill and endurance in one of the world's toughest stage races, the Crocodile Trophy from October 20- 28.
