QUEENSLAND'S LARGEST CLUB APR/MAY 2013 THE ROAD AHEAD 31 PACK YOUR BAGS International travelers boarding flights in Australia need to be aware of the amount of liquids, aerosols and gels they can take onboard. Rules apply to international flights to and from Australia, and to passengers on the domestic leg of an international flight within Australia. These rules apply to products carried in the cabin of the aircraft by passengers, not checked baggage: • Liquid, aerosol or gel products must be in containers of 100ml or less. • The containers must be carried in one transparent, resealable plastic bag, no more than 20x20cm or 15x25cm in size (like a zip-lock sandwich bag). • Only one bag is allowed for each passenger, with the exception of carers. travelsecure.infrastructure.gov.au SKY-HIGH BOOST FOR TOURISM Etihad Airways has launched a new daily service between Abu Dhabi and Brisbane, which is expected to attract more than 54,000 extra visitors to the state each year. Minister for Tourism Jann Stuckey said the service into Brisbane would provide a welcome boost for Queensland's tourism industry. "Brisbane and the bulk of Queensland tourism destinations are accessible and ready to welcome visitors," Ms Stuckey said. "These additional Etihad flights will continue to boost tourism by attracting more international tourists, which is critical to growing jobs in the industry into the future." tq.com.au GIRLS FLYING SOLO Sisters are doing it for themselves, at least where travel is concerned, according to the 2012 Female Travel and Lifestyle Report. The report, conducted by lastminute.com.au, showed that nearly 50 percent of Australian women had taken a holiday on their own in 2012, and almost two-thirds of those holidays were overseas. On a global scale, 67 million females travelled alone, or with a female companion last year, and this year women are expected to spend $125 billion on travel.
