The Road Ahead Sampler : August September 2013
QUEENSLAND'S LARGEST CLUB RACQ'S YOUTH MEMBERSHIP PROGRAM, FREE2GO, AIMS TO HELP QUEENSLANDERS AGED 16 TO 19 OBTAIN THEIR DRIVERS' LICENCES AND STAY SAFE ON THE ROAD. BUT THERE ISN'T much point in encouraging young adults to drive safely if the vehicle they are driving isn't safe. Which is why free2go partnered with RACQ's Vehicle Inspection team to develop the Defective Vehicle Presentation, to show students in Years 11 and 12 what to be aware of when buying a car. The practical, interactive presentation is conducted by accredited RACQ vehicle inspectors and gives students the opportunity to see a defective vehicle first-hand so they know what to be on the look-out for. "The Defective Vehicle Presentation is in high demand and many schools book the presentation months in advance," Rod Netterfield, from RACQ Membership, said. "It's a great presentation, where students have the opportunity to learn from an experienced RACQ vehicle inspector and make sure that when they go to buy their first set of wheels that they don't end up with a lemon." The hour-long presentation highlights other factors young buyers should be aware of and the importance of checking the vehicle's history through the Personal Property Securities Register (PPSR) to ensure it isn't stolen, a write-off or has money owing on it. Queensland motorists young and old can watch the two- part RACQ Defective Vehicle Presentation on You Tube at youtube.com/free2goracq.
