OFFER RACQ TRAVEL DEC 2013/JAN 2014 THE ROAD AHEAD in Jewel Cave, or visit the deepest of the caves, Lake Cave, home to -- you guessed it -- an underground lake. Of course, no visit to Margaret River is complete without a winery stop. Leeuwin Estate is known for its chardonnay and shiraz, particularly the premium Art Series bottles, their colourful labels designed by leading contemporary artists. The winery even has its own art gallery displaying paintings and sculptures by some of Australia's best- known artists, including John Olsen, Sidney Nolan and Fred Williams. Leeuwin also has an acclaimed restaurant which showcases local seafood and other produce. Also worth visiting is Cullen Wines. The property is run on biodynamic principles, and if the award-winning wines aren't enough to convince you -- try their sauvignon blanc semillon and cabernet sauvignon merlot blends -- the food will. With 80 percent of the produce coming straight from their own garden, the dishes showcase flavour-packed fresh produce such as broad beans and asparagus. Before heading back to Perth, stop in and stock up at the Margaret River Chocolate Factory. This expansive space feels more like a warehouse than factory, with tempting treats piled up everywhere you look. Say hello to the chocolatier if they're on duty and, on your way out, help yourself to some chocolate drops from the big barrels: they're free for the taking. DEPARTURE NATIONAL | TRAVEL ... the Valley of the Giants treetop walk is a lightweight bridge that winds up into the forest canopy, letting you stroll among the treetops.
