Fremantle Harbour is Western Australia's largest and busiest general cargo port and is famed for its historical landmarks and laid-back atmosphere. Thanks to the network of CAT buses regularly traversing the city, the various experiences are easily accessible. The centrally-located train station also runs a regular service to Perth city via a range of pretty coastal stops such as Cottesloe and Swanbourne beaches and trendy shopping and coffee stops like Claremont and Subiaco. The relatively-new Western Australian Maritime Museum, located at Victoria Quay, has six themed galleries sharing stories of the area's maritime history. The nearby HMAS Ovens is the first submarine to be preserved in Australia as a museum ship. One of the more popular historical stops is the Fremantle Round House (commonly known as the 'Old Fremantle Gaol') which is the oldest remaining building in Western Australia and originally a working gaol. They offer daily tours and, for those not afraid of a spooky experience, the ones after dark are not to be missed. Craft beer enthusiasts can visit the internationally-known Little Creatures Brewery and enjoy a tour of a working microbrewery, or just lounge back with a pizza and freshly-poured Pale Ale brewed on site. Other popular dining options in the Fishing Boat Harbour area include Cicerellos, Kailis Brothers or Sweetlips for fans of fish and chips, or Joe's Fish Shack, the Mussel Bar or Char Char Bull for those who are looking for something a little less casual. Further up in the 'Cappuccino Strip' (the main street in Fremantle) there is a choice of over 60 restaurants.
